Panopto is a video content management system for uploading, managing and sharing videos and audio files. It's a centralized, secure place for recorded lectures, training videos and student assignments. Video capture requires downloading the small Panopto recorder program while video editing and content management are web browser based.
Panopto is fully integrated into Blackboard to host recorded lecturers and video with embed quizzes, and to support student video submissions. Panopto is device friendly so staff and students can create content on smart phones, iPads, laptops and PC’s then upload them to a personal cloud content folder.
Panopto can capture anything on your computer screen (from PowerPoint slides to complex animations), document cameras, and video from just about any camera. Once captured, recordings are processed into an interactive, searchable web format as well as audio and video podcasts that students can watch on any device.
Panopto integrates with our learning management system, Blackboard. All recordings can easily be shared as part of your course materials, and students can access Panopto recordings using their username and password from any device.
Panopto helps ensure that all recordings are captured and stored in compliance with university policy. A wide range of reports can also be generated to help you understand how your recordings are being viewed.
Panopto automatically indexes all of your recordings so that students can find and fast-forward to words that are mentioned in the lecture, displayed on-screen, or that appear anywhere else in the video.
The Lecture Capture Policy outlines the principles to be applied by the University, in relation to the recording of all undergraduate and postgraduate Lectures in technology-enabled dedicated teaching spaces.
