Access

Requesting access

You can request access to the 'Course Management System' (CMS) by completing an 'Access Request to Course Management System' form. Once completed the system will generate an email to your Manager, who will approve your request and ensure that you have the correct level of access for the work you are required to do.

Staff require training prior to access being given. Staff in the Faculty Teaching and Learning areas and in the Schools can assist you with information as to whether you require CMS access and the level of access you need. They will provide you with information about training sessions.

Production environment

All ECU staff can gain 'Read Only' access on application, while edit and approval access are only available to relevant staff on the approval of their manager. 'Read Only' access allows the user to view all ECU’s courses, units and unitsets that are approved for offering. That status is Enrolment Approved – other versions, including superseded, archived, or those under development, can only be seen by staff with appropriate access levels, which are allocated dependent on their roles.

Training environment

The 'Test Course Management System' is the training environment which is used in formal training sessions, which are conducted by the Centre for Learning and Development. Its other purpose is to allow you to practice in an environment without any repercussions if you make errors, and it allows you to test various functions, as you and to work their way through a question. You can use the training environment to familiarise yourself with the special features and functionality of the system.

You can request access to the 'Test Course Management System' by completing an 'Access Request to Test Course Management System' form. Approval works in the same way as for the Production environment. Once your request for access has been approved see our training page for available resources and link to the 'Test Course Management System'.

Accessing the system

Once you have gained access via the process outlined above, you can begin using the Course Management System by navigating to the Staff Portal and then clicking on the CMS link in the "Easy Logins" menu on the left-hand side of the Staff Portal. You may need to add the link to your "Easy Logins" by clicking on the 'edit pencil' icon next to the "Easy Logins" title. This will allow you to add the application to your list.
