Cycle One Audit 2004
The first cycle of quality audits of Australian universities commenced in 2002 (Cycle One), and finished at the end of 2007. ECU’s first audit occurred in March 2004, providing an assessment of our quality processes overall and how well we were meeting our own objectives.
Performance Portfolio
ECU submitted our Performance Portfolio in December 2003. A number of Appendices and supporting materials were also provided; electronic copies are available through the Quality & Equity Unit. The Audit Panel visited ECU from March 22-25 2004, and interviewed over 250 staff, students and stakeholders.
AUQA Report
AUQA released the Report of an Audit of Edith Cowan University in October 2004. The report concluded that, as a relatively young institution, ECU had demonstrated considerable achievements, and also identified areas for improvement. Overall, AUQA made 23 Commendations, 7 Affirmations, and 12 Recommendations. A number of ECU’s practices were included in the AUQA Good Practice Database.
Action Plan/ Progress Report
ECU developed detailed strategies to address the Recommendations and Affirmations from the Audit Report and submitted them to AUQA in May 2005. A number of formal and informal updates on the Cycle 1 Action Plan have since been conducted, most recently in July 2010.
The last formal Progress Report was provided to AUQA in November 2006. A Summary is available for download, and the full Progress Report is available from the Quality & Equity Unit. An update on the Action Plan will form the basis for the first section of the Cycle 2 Performance Portfolio.
