Vice-Chancellor’s Staff Excellence Awards

Each year, the Vice-Chancellor recognises staff for their outstanding achievement and performance and for demonstrating above and beyond ECU’s values.

These awards provide the perfect opportunity to recognise, reward and encourage outstanding effort and achievement, and to celebrate staff contributions to the University’s goals.

Nominations will open in 2024 on 22 April and close on 19 June. The winners will be announced at a celebratory event in November.

Recognising Excellence

Excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advancement

The Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advancement recognises individuals or teams who have made a significant commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, staff, people, families, and communities.

To nominate a colleague or team:

Excellence in Health, Safety and Wellbeing Practice

The Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence in Health, Safety and Wellbeing Practice recognises individuals or teams who have made a significant contribution to improving and promoting health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace at ECU.

Excellence in Learning and Teaching

The Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence in Learning and Teaching Awards encourage, recognise and reward excellence and achievement in all forms of teaching, and in innovations, initiatives and services that contribute in diverse ways to student learning.

To submit your nomination:
1. Review the Award Guidelines under each category below.
2. Develop your nomination in accordance with the guidelines' nomination structure and formatting. You can access nomination support and training here.
3. When finalised, submit your nomination, combined into a single pdf document, via the nomination form link below.

Recognising Inspiration

Inspirational Awards

The Vice-Chancellor’s Inspirational Staff Awards recognise individual staff or teams who demonstrate above and beyond ECU’s values. Awards for individual staff members are: Integrity, Respect , Rational Inquiry, Personal Excellence and Courage. The Inspirational Team Award is awarded to recognise team excellence as evidenced by a particular example of high quality performance or a sustained high standard of performance.

Eligibility criteria

Staff who have received an award in the previous three years are ineligible to be considered in the same Award category. See Previous Award Winners.

Applicants must be a current ECU staff member at the time of application and at the receipt of the Vice-Chancellor’s Staff Awards.

Refer to the Award Guidelines under each award category for more information.

Selection process

Nominations will be forwarded to the respective Awards Selection Committees for assessment. A recommendation of the final Award recipients will be forwarded to the Vice-Chancellor for approval.

Award recipients will receive a monetary prize (divided equally amongst a team for winners of a Team Award).

The Awards are announced and presented at a ceremony in November.
