The Centre for Learning and Development is responsible for assisting Faculty to implement a number of ECU policies relating to teaching and learning:

Policies

  • Assessment
    To state the responsibilities for assessment policy and the principles of student assessment as employed at Edith Cowan University.
  • Submission of Examination Papers
    ECU staff will write, transmit, approve and submit examination papers to the Student Services Centre in accordance with this policy.
  • Student Evaluation of Units and Teaching
    This policy describes the principles, mechanism and requirements for the collection and use of student evaluations of units and teaching.
  • Programme – Field Experience
    The purpose of this Policy is to ensure that all enrolled students of the University that engage in field experience are ensured of an appropriate education and that students are provided with health, safety and environmental conditions that are appropriate and protect the students’ well-being.
  • Classroom – Captive Audience
    To ensure that classes (Captive Audiences) are not subject to inappropriate access.
  • Conduct of Ethical Research and Teaching Involving Animals
    This document outlines the Animal Ethics policy and procedures of the Edith Cowan University. It provides guidance for staff in considering the many ethical issues involved in research and teaching.
  • Professional Development for Tertiary Teachers
    To address the needs of academic staff in the development of teaching skills through targeted professional development.
  • Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching
    To institute a set of awards that recognise and reward innovation and excellence in teaching that engages students in, motivates and facilitates effective learning.
  • Flexible Learning
    Flexible learning is therefore part of the University’s strategy to deliver quality, student-centred learning experiences to all students by applying the most effective and appropriate teaching and learning modes and technologies.
  • Advanced Standing
    To ensure the granting of advanced standing towards completion of ECU courses is applied equitably across the University.
