The West Australian Networks for Dissemination is pleased to announce a new network initiative: the WAND Small Grants Scheme.

WAND is an inter-university network that aims to facilitate the enhancement of learning and teaching in WA universities. WAND encourages a supportive climate of collaboration and evidence based practice, grounded in scholarship.

WAND Small Grants are for small innovative projects in learning and teaching. To be selected, proposals must demonstrate how the project can be embedded at the host institution and be disseminated beyond the host institution. All career stages may apply and teams are encouraged. Cross-university collaborative projects are also encouraged.

Value: $6,000
Number: One per West Australian university
Due date: 31 August 2016
Project time: up to 9 months, with all reporting completed by 30 June 2017

Required activities

  • Poster and short presentation at the WAND Sharing Day, to be held at Murdoch University on Thursday 10 November 2016
  • Submission of an abstract, paper, or workshop to the Teaching and Learning Forum, to be held at Curtin University on 2-3 February 2017
  • At least one other dissemination event in your Faculty, School or University
  • Provide an executive summary to be available on the WAND website

Submission Requirements:

  • Complete the online application form by COB 31 August 2016 (a link to this form is available on receipt of an Expression of Interest email, sent to the WAND contact at your university)
  • Budget (required amounts: $80 for project poster, $320 full registration for the TLF, $300 catering for your dissemination event). Please note that budget items must be for activities rather than position of employment, for example, ‘literature review’ or ‘collation of data’ rather than ‘Research assistant’
  • One letter of support from your Faculty or School Dean
  • An in-kind contribution is included

WAND is funded by an Australian Government Office for Learning and Teaching network grant. WAND Small Grants Scheme expenditure will align with the Office for Learning and Teaching Innovation and Development Grants 2016 Programme information and application instructions.

In particular please note the non-approved expenditure:

  • purchase of motor vehicles

  • general recurrent funding
  • project website development (host your project on WAND and your university websites)

If successful an agreement will be entered into with Curtin University as the current project holder of WAND. Please see the Conditions of Grant on the WAND website https://www.wand.edu.au/news
