Staff Members at Edith Cowan University are invited to attend a workshop on intensive mode teaching.

Intensive mode teaching (IMT) engages students in facilitated learning activities or classes intensively over longer than a few hours in a day, and over fewer days than a traditional course.

Participants will be guided through a step-by-step process on developing intensive mode units using interactive online guidelines on supporting the student experience of capability development in units with IMT. This will include learning to identify threshold capabilities in their units and to support students to develop these.

Who should attend?

 In Disciplines

  • People teaching with intensive mode teaching
  • People considering teaching with intensive mode teaching
  • Associate deans (teaching and learning)

In Higher Education

  • Teaching and learning advisors in universities
  • Teaching and learning leaders and policy makers
  • Higher education researchers

The workshop in Perth will be on 13 April 2016 at The University of Western Australia.

In the final half hour, participants will review the guide and be invited to submit comments to contribute to development of the guidelines. (The Participant Information Form and sample Participant Consent Form are available at www.ecm.uwa.edu.au/staff/learning/research/intensive-mode-teaching.)
