Enhancing employability in your course

  • 9.00am - 12.00pm - Course Context: Connecting Different Types of Knowledge through Integrative and Generative Learning (overview) Register here.
    This workshop will focus on specific strategies and steps you can use to increase students’ agency, and therein strengthen their capacity for lifelong learning through the use of integrative and generative methods. In these workshops, you will learn how to:
    • Help students recognise, value and document the subtle (often unconscious) sensations insights, and “a-ha” moments that accompany deep learning;
    • Develop in-class exercises and/or assignments they can use to help students translate subtle moments of learning into practical “real-world” knowledge and skills; and
    • Use Generative Dialogue techniques to help students connect their academic learning with their unconscious and embodied sources of purpose and engagement.

  • 1.00pm - 4.00pm - Embedding Integrative and Generative Learning in your course (overview) Register here.
    This workshop will give you the opportunity, with your colleagues, to start embedding integrative and generative learning strategies into your course. As a team, you will:
    • Identify units where these strategies best fit to meet course and unit learning outcomes;
    • Further plan and develop assessment using integrative and generative methods; and,
    • Create an action plan for enhancing employability in your course.

    • Identify learning outcomes, assessments, and activities which best align to generative and integrative methods;
    • Further plan and develop assessment tasks using integrative and generative methods; and
    • Create an action plan for enhancing employability in your unit.

About Melissa
Dr Melissa Peet’s interdisciplinary research focuses on identifying and refining teaching, learning and knowledge management methods that support effective leaders, entrepreneurs and change agents. Several of her methods are now being used in a variety of fields, professions and disciplines throughout the US to support people in identifying and utilizing the vast hidden forms of knowledge and intelligence they possess.

Melissa is associated with the Association for the Study of Higher Education, the American Association of Colleges and Universities, the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity, the American Dental Education Association, the Council of Social Work Education, and the Academy of Management.
