In December, CLD held a graduation for 22 staff who had completed the Management Excellence and Supervisor Programs in 2014.

Acting Vice-Chancellor Arshad Omari presented each graduate with a certificate in front of their managers and peers before the programs officially closed with a celebration lunch.

Pam Basden coordinates the Management and Leadership professional development portfolio. When asked how the Management Excellence Program had gone, she said “the participants jelled together and supported each other both with the workshop content and challenges they experienced in their roles. Some of the highlights for participants were the visits by some of our more senior managers which gave them valuable insights to strategies and processes within ECU”.

Fadi Ma’ayah, Senior Lecturer from the School of Exercise and Sports Science and a participant in the workshop commented that “I really enjoyed the course and the active discussions and learned a lot from everyone during all the workshops.”

Sandy Medhurst, the Coordinator of the Supervisor Program is passionate about developing effective managers. “Managing people can be the most challenging role you will ever have.  Having the right skills to do the job can make it also the most rewarding.  The Supervisor Program is geared to giving our front line managers the right skills but also broadens their networks for collegial support when the going gets tough.”
The Supervisor Program and Management Excellence 2015 will be commencing in February. Vacancies are still available and staff are invited to contact Pam Basden to find out more.
