Write a paper for publication
Learning to write is an academic skill most of us pick up painfully through the process of completing university degrees. The communication of research results through publication in a scholarly journal is an essential skill to have. It is important that we communicate our research findings not only to peers but also to laypersons and the media. Writing a paper may seem like a daunting process for the inexperienced researcher as well as for those who are experienced.
Come to this workshop and learn from an experienced writer who will set you on the path to successful written communication.
What the editor looks for
Writing is only part of the process – you have to get past a review and then the editor. Your work is subject to the scrutiny of others in the same field. Your ideas, good or bad, may never be widely appreciated amongst your contemporaries unless they survive this process. Come to this workshop and find out from an editor’s point of view why some writing gets through and why some gets rejected. Is it because of irrelevant findings, unwarranted claims, unacceptable interpretations, personal views or does the editor just not like you?
