Teaching at ECU: Principles and Practices - PDC113

This is a semester long professional development course offered for newly appointed ongoing and contracted academic staff. The course offers you a sound foundation from which you can continue to develop as a university teacher. It provides a theoretical framework relating to teaching and learning, along with opportunities to explore a range of teaching and learning strategies. You will explore these approaches in terms of your own teaching context, while also sharing common issues across the group.

Successful completion of the course at an appropriate standard gives advanced standing towards the Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching at Edith Cowan University.

Who should participate in PDC113

All new full-time and part-time staff on ongoing and fixed-term contracts are required to satisfactorily complete this program as a condition of tenure or continuation of contract. This course is also of great value to more experienced staff who wish to refresh and develop further insights into their teaching.

Heads of Schools can recognise prior learning and waive or partially waive the requirements to participate in PDC113 where the new staff member can demonstrate appropriate teaching qualifications, skills and/or experience.

For more information on session dates and times see the staff development portal.
